We caught up with Smith on the eve of Sky Sports getting back on air with the resumption of Live Premier League fixtures that will go all the way through to the end of the season.

It is a massive logistical exercise with Sky Sports showing 64 Premier League matches, 39 exclusively to subscribers and 25 available more widely on Sky One including this weekend’s crunch game between Everton and Liverpool.

We spoke about how the games will be covered, the innovations that will be in place to mitigate the lack of a studio atmosphere and more.
