We double up on our Daily Video this morning with two examples of local brands looking to leverage the Irish love affair with Rugby to sell yoghurt and cars.
The linking theme is use of a celebrity and a dash of humour.
Glenisk is the official Yoghurt of Irish Rugby and grabbed the chance to put Jamie Heaslip, Garry Ringrose and Jordi Murphy through their paces with questions on what they’d do if they won the Lottery, tea or coffee and a who inspires them. Seated in the dressing room mat the Aviva it works because the lads get into the sprit of it, led by Heaslip and finishes up with them tucking into a pot of Glensik.
The second is from a local Dublin Toyota dealership. This skates a little closer to the edge of Volkswagen’s, Windsor Motor’s, Keary’s Renault, Mazda and BMW who each have partnerships with the IRFU and the provinces.
No players then for this one and no overt reference to any association with the big game this weekend. It’s just a few guys, driving around Dublin, talking about how Ireland can beat England and proving that sport rather than a musical career was the right choice for them.
