Channel 4 are showing free to air games from the Women’s European Football Championships kicking off on July 16th in the Netherlands.

Clare Balding will host the coverage and McDonalds have been brought on board as high profile broadcast sponsor.  When Channel 4 took on coverage of the Paralympic Games at London 2012 they played a major part in raising the overall profile of the sport and the promotional activity they do is a big part of that.

Hopefully next time round we will be able to cheer on a republic of Ireland and a Northern Ireland team at the Championships, by which time it will have climbed ever closer to the respect and interest generated by the Men’s game…
