Another exciting day of WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup action in Balbriggan, Ireland as Great Britain, Australia, USA and Chinese Taipei all recorded wins on day two.

After yesterday’s historic opening day of the premier international women’s softball tournament, staged for the first time in Ireland, day two continued in similar vein with cracking games at the Balbriggan All Weather Field.

Great Britain continued their good form in the opening game of the day, beating Chinese Taipei 2-0 before Australia recorded their first win of the tournament in the second game of the day beating hosts Ireland 4-0.

World No. 1 United States proved too good for Botswana, ranked 43rd in the world, winning 15-0 after five innings (run ahead rule) while in the last game of the day, world No. 3 Chinese Taipei claimed their first win of the tournament, beating Ireland, ranked 17th in the world, 11-1 after five innings (run ahead rule).

Each team plays two games on one day of the tournament and with that double now behind them Ireland can focus on what is likely a must win game against Great Britain. The first pitch is at 18:30 this evening and tickets can be bought in advance for the pop-up stadium which Softball Ireland has created in partnership with Fingal Local Authority.

The games are being streamed live with all details in our Daily Guide to Live TV and Streamed sport.

We will be heading to North County Dublin later to catch some of the action live. After all it’s not often you get to experience a World Cup on Irish soil.
