DHL Express, the world’s leading international express services provider, has extended its role as official logistics partner of the FAI until beyond the next FIFA World Cup in 2014.  The new deal encompasses support for all Irish international teams.
The partnership has now been in place for nearly 20 years and is one of the longest commercial relationships in Irish sport.  Services provided include the shipping of all team kit, training equipment and team supplies as well as everything from match reports and video analysis, passports, legal documents and physio equipment.
The company has major international relationships with sport including as the logistics partner of Formula One but it is also keen to foster local partnerships.  Earlier this year it signed up as the premium sponsor of Bohemians football club and it also has official supplier status with the IRFU and Paralympics Ireland.
“DHL Express has long been a big supporter of football in Ireland and we will continue to play our part to facilitate the success of all of our international soccer teams,” said managing director Bernard McCarthy.
FAI Chief Executive, John Delaney, echoed those comments: “As one of our longest-standing sponsors we are delighted that DHL Express has renewed its partnership with us.  They have been our Official Express and Logistic Partner for almost twenty years now and with their local knowledge, global network and worldwide reputation they are the perfect fit for our complex logistic requirements.
“The ongoing support provided by the local DHL Express team has been invaluable to us over recent years.  This was most evident in the run-up, during and after Euro 2012 with over 16 tonnes of kit and equipment moved over the period.”
