When Red Bull decided on the schedule for the World Cliff Diving Championships, staging the Irish leg in Mayo on the second week in September, three weeks after the All Ireland Football Final would have been great.
In a Covid world though you always have to accept that calendar issues will have the potential for disruption and so it was that the twelve fearless divers took to the board on Downpatrick Head on Saturday with the County somewhat preoccupied by events at Croke Park.
As it happens, they might have taken more joy from the diving than the football and the photography that was taken by the team at Inpho, reproduced above and below are incredible.
Clearly, this is not a sport for the faint of heart…
