2016 Electric Ireland GAA Minor Championships LaunchElectric Ireland were out and about at Croke Park yesterday launching their continued support for the GAA All Ireland Minor Championships in Football and Hurling.

The campaign won an Excellence Award from the European Sponsorship Association earlier this year and will focus this year on pairing former Minor players with their county alongside the stars of today to compare their experiences and reflect on what it was like to be part of the county minor set up.

The campaign will be driven through social media and use of the new hashtag #GAAThisisMajor, amended from previous years to create a cleaner space around the specific campaign.

The first pairs include Kevin O’Halloran who is part of Tipperary’s Munster Senior Final set up this year alongside his Minor counterpart Colin English.  That Tipperary is featuring as the launch team in football as opposed to hurling is largely down to the work that has gone in to the bigger ball code at under age level in recent years.

On the hurling side the chat will be between Paul Murphy and Seanie Bolger of Kilkenny.

Electric Ireland are also the official energy partner of the GAA and have worked with them on turning Croke Park into one of the most sustainable major stadia on the planet.

Ownership on their own of the Minor Championships allows for greater exposure within the smaller audience that is attracted to the under age game but it also means they are the only brand to have full association with the two men’s All Ireland Finals days in September.

As a mark of how powerful the association with youth sport can be here is the Electric Ireland Minor Championship TV ad which has been running for the past two years…
