The FAI has appointed CityJet as its official airline partner in a deal with cash and tickets believed to be worth €200,000.
As part of the deal CityJet will fly the squad to the European Championship Finals in France this summer.
FAI season ticket holders will also be able to secure a 10% discount on all flight tickets with the airline which flies from Dublin to London City and from Cork to London, Nantes and La Rochelle. The airline has extensive onward connections from London City to Paris, Toulon, Avignon and Nantes as well as other European destinations.
CityJet is also the official airline partner of Leinster Rugby where it operates alongside fellow FAI commercial partners Bank of Ireland and the Irish Independent Group.
The FAI extended its principal commercial partnership with Three through to 2020 prior to qualification for this summer’s Championships and now numbers a total of 17 commercial deals with sponsors, with the promise of more to be announced before the summer.
“Having an Irish airline with the network offered by CityJet as official partner is very important for the FAI,” added CEO John Delaney.
“We are really looking forward to working closely with the CityJet team in a year which offers so much excitement and promise for everyone who loves Irish football.”
“There is no doubt that the Irish team carries the nation’s hopes in the Euro 16 finals in France and we are absolutely delighted to play our part as Official Airline Partner of the FAI,” said CityJet Chairman Pat Byrne speaking as the deal was announced at FAI HQ on the National Sports Campus yesterday.
“It is a great honour to have the opportunity of flying the Boys in Green to France and to continue as ongoing partner to the FAI.”
“CityJet is a pan-European airline with services across the continent, ranging from the Nordic regions down to Italy and a major operation in France, so we look forward to working with the FAI at a time when the world of football focuses on Europe”.
