Formula One is without doubt one of the world’s biggest money sports and the visit of teams to Dublin showed its popularity in Ireland in early June. It is also in the midst of perhaps its most exciting and evenly balanced season ever.
Lewis Hamilton’s victory in the Canadian grand prix on Sunday evening meant he became the seventh different race winner from the opening seven races of the 2012 campaign.
A mere seven seconds covered the first five home in Montreal and the win was enough to lift Hamilton, who features prominently in Vodafone marketing here and around the world, to the top of the Drivers championship.
This will all help to keep interest in a potential IPO of the business behind the sport bubbling away after a €3 billion planned IPO in Singapore was pulled early in June doe to soft trading conditions caused in part by the underperformance of Facebook shares after it’s launch the previous month.
