Our latest Sport for Business Social Night took place at Shelbourne Park last night and was a great success.

One of the things that we aim to do is to bring together the different strands of sport in a way that is sometimes more difficult than would be imagined.

Last night was no different with stars from the field of play including Dublin Hurler Joey Boland joining Wasps Rugby Star James Downey and Irish International Cricket legend Kevin O’Brien among those in attendance.

Representatives also from special olympics, hockey, horse racing, soccer and athletics mingled with business leaders from many different sectors, all united by a common desire to bring sport and business closer together.

Members of the group were able to gain access to the track and make a presentation to the winner of the Sport for Business Digital Future of Sport race during the evening.

The event followed on from our latest Sport for Business Members’ Round Table which proved to be a feisty affair around Sport and Tourism.  You can read some of the take-aways from that event here.

Thanks to the Irish Greyhound Board and Shelbourne Park for hosting the event, and good luck to those who won prizes to go to The Irish Champions’ Weekend at Leopardstown on Saturday, the All Ireland Camogie Finals at Croke Park on Sunday and the Boylesports irish Greyhound Derby Final on Saturday 19th.

Sport for Business is all about a community of individuals and organisations helping each other to do things better.  We will look to host other Social Evenings in the near future, as well as our programme of Round Table and other events specific to certain areas of engagement where sport, business and society cross over.
