The initiative will give international fans the opportunity to virtually ‘sit in’ on the United vs Liverpool Premier League clash on Sunday 16th March by appearing in a live Google+ Hangout
Those selected as part of the free multi-person video call will appear on a custom digital billboard circling the pitch at Old Trafford.
75,000 tickets for the match are already sold out but those wishing to take part in the new initiative will be able to do so by tagging a photo in Google+ with the hashtag ‘#MUFrontRow’.
A number of the best will be invited to participate live in the hangout and appear as a virtual part of the crowd at the stadium in a match that will be televised around the world.
Through different social media outlets and supporters clubs, Man United claim to have a total of over 650 million fans around the world.
“This ground-breaking initiative offers a dynamic and innovative way for our fans worldwide to get even closer to the club they love,” said Manchester United’s group managing director, Richard Arnold.
“Working with Google we are giving the chance for something that is a dream for all United fans, no matter where they live.”
“For Google, Front Row is an exciting experiment into what the future of supporting your team could be, and we couldn’t think of a greater partner than Manchester United to kick it off,” added Head of Google+ EMEA, Cristian Cussen.
