The Irish Greyhound Board and TG4 have announced the addition of Greyhound View Live to the Autumn Schedule for the Irish language broadcaster. Greyhound View Live will feature two hour long live greyhound racing programmes from Curraheen Park and Limerick Greyhound Stadium.
They will take place on October 19th and November 23rd following at a good pace from coverage from Shelbourne Park of the final of the ETS Irish Greyhound Derby on RTE on Saturday September 14th.
The two main sponsors to benefit from the increased level of live coverage are Red Mills and Kerry Agribusiness, both of whom would have an interest in the core greyhound audience but also in the international expansion which a combination of Irish Greyhound Board and TG4 online broadcast will also deliver.
The Irish Greyhound Board is expected to announce shortly a number of web broadcast packages which will cover a wide variety of racing from Dublin tracks, Waterford and Tralee as well as the events unveiled for additional TV coverage today.
Races are filmed at present for transmission to other tracks and on cctv around the host track and the availability of live coverage makes streaming a viable and attractive option.
”We are looking forward to our partnership with TG4 and we are delighted to add Greyhound View Live to the growing list of live greyhound racing broadcasts in 2013,” said Colin Walsh , Director of Commercial Operations at the Irish Greyhound Board.”
“These programmes are further opportunities to showcase the excitement of Irish greyhound racing to a wider audience and it also gives greyhound racing supporters who cannot get to the venues on the night the opportunity to watch the racing from these premier events.”
“We hope these broadcasts live from Curraheen Park and Limerick Greyhound Stadium will open up the sport to an even wider audience and act as a great platform to showcase one of the most vibrant sports in Ireland,” added Rónán Ó Coisdealbha, Head of Sport at TG4.
