Sport Ireland’s Her Outdoors Week kicked off yesterday with a vast range of events taking place across the country.
The aim of the initiative is to celebrate and encourage more girls and women to get out and enjoy the benefits of being in the outdoors while bringing visibility to the opportunities for females to get involved in outdoor physical activity.
National Governing Bodies and Local Sports Partnerships are all getting involved and putting on different sporting activities ranging from Pilates and a dip in Sandycove organised by the Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Sports Partnership to an Adventure Festival in Russborough House, Teen Girls Kayaking in Sligo and a Women’s Social Cycle in Mullingar.
The activities are open to all ages and levels of ability with a special welcome emphasis for those with a disability or taking a first step back towards exercise after a break.
Here is the highlights reel from last year’s event.
