Horse Sport Ireland has announced Swedish insurance company Agria as the new  Official Sponsor of the Irish Senior Eventing Team.

Agria, which trades in Ireland as Agria Petinsure, has long been associated with equestrian sport, including in recent years as sponsor of the international equestrian governing body, Federation Equestre Internationale (FEI).

The company specialises in pet and animal insurance and is one of the world’s leading pet insurers. Agria Petinsure was established in Ireland in 2023 and is now a prominent feature of the Irish pet insurance industry.

Speaking at the sponsorship announcement at Millstreet International Horse Trials at the weekend, Denis Duggan, Chief Executive of Horse Sport Ireland, said:

“Horse Sport Ireland is delighted to welcome Agria as a major sponsor of our Senior Eventing Team. This is an exciting development for the Eventing Team ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and marks a significant milestone in our mission to support our international high-performance athletes in Eventing.”

“On behalf of the athletes that comprise the Senior Eventing Team, Horse Sport Ireland is delighted to welcome Agria as our Official Eventing Team Sponsor.”

“Through our collaboration with Horse Sport Ireland, Agria can connect with more equestrian stakeholders in Ireland, and in the many countries where Team Ireland athletes compete,” added Mikael Theorén, Equine Business Area Manager of Agria.

“As a proud Swedish company, we’re excited to work with fellow Swede Dag Albert, Eventing High-Performance Director with Horse Sport Ireland and the team of Irish Athletes.”

“Agria is an excellent choice to be the Official Sponsor of our Senior Eventing Team as it has a track record of more than 130 years of supporting animal welfare and peace of mind for animal owners,” said Albert. “It is also a long-standing international supporter of equestrian sports.”

Established in 1890 in Sweden, Agria currently insures 1.3 million pets and horses. It is the market leader in Sweden and Norway and operates in nine countries. Agria has provided equine insurance and digital veterinary advice to equine owners in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, the UK, and Germany.

Horse Sport Ireland’s new partnership with Agria follows a recent Agria-FEI partnership whereby the Swedish company has become the Official FEI Insurance Partner until 2028.
