This past weekend should have seen hundreds of thousands of American fans of College Football gather on campuses across the country to enjoy the traditional ‘Spring Game’ that marks the early start of pre-season planning for College Football’s return in the autumn.

Lockdown meant that was never going to happen this year but the University of Nebraska reached out to their legion of fanatical fans to see would they be interested in watching a simulation game played on EA Sports NCAA College Football game by a number of alumni players.

The answer was an emphatic yes with over 20,000 ‘Huskers’ gathering to watch on computers across the state and much further afield.

They are one of the biggest draws in College Football and they are coming to Dublin in 2021 for the Aer Lingus sponsored College Football Classic.

This year’s game featuring Notre Dame and Navy is still on the schedule with a lot of holding of breath over the next couple of months to see just how mass gatherings and international travel will resume.

When the Huskers come though you can be pretty sure that the Aviva Stadium will be hopping…
