Ironman took the decision last week to announce a Triathlon Festival for Cork in August 2021 and have been rewarded with the new 70.3 event selling out completely in a matter of days.

That’s 1,600 extra athletes heading to Youghal on top of the 2,000 plus that will compete in the full Ironman at the same time. It was a brave call in the current restrictions on movement and travel.

We caught up with Ironman Managing Director in the UK and Ireland Declan Byrne to find out more about the event and the future of mass participation engagement.
