Ryan Seaton and Matt McGovern, sailing in the 49er class at the ISAF World Championships off Australia have guranteed themselves a place at the London Olympic games.
The pair did enough in their morning races to climb to sixth place by nation and 10th place overall.  That secures a spot in the ‘Gold Fleet’ of the top 25 racers, all of whom will be inside the Olympic qualifying standard.
The pair have a twitter account @Irish49er which could do with a little more frequent updating but which will give them an additional aspect for any commercial partnerships they might seak in the next seven months and beyond.
They join Annelise Murphy who qualified for her event at the same Championships last weekend.
