We take great interest in the participation of Irish players across the top European Leagues in soccer with our frequent Women’s international players gracing the biggest pitches and an occasional appearance from the Men.

It’s happening now in swimming with both Shane Ryan and Darragh Green appearing for the Totonto Titans and the London Roar in the second season of the International Swimming League.

The tournament involves 315 swimmers from 38 countries coming together in Budapest in Hungary competing for ten teams across eight weeks.

The teams represent Budapest, Toronto and London as well as New York, Los Angeles, California and Washington DC from the US, Tokyo, Italy and Ukraine.

There will be two semi-finals for the top eight teams after ten rounds of action from November 19th to 22nd, followed by a Final for the top four teams.

Billionaire

The event is backed by Ukrainian Billionaire Konstantin Grigorishin who has interests in energy, construction and shipbuilding in Ukraine.

The racing is streamed live and available around the world on BeIn Sport where US swimming star Rowdy Gaines is one of the commentators.

This is the second year of competition, naturally interrupted by the Covid 19 pandemic but it looks to have a chance in a fractured media world of translating the attention that always falls on swimming through the Olympics into a more permanent fixture at the top table of sport.

Join us this Thursday morning, November 12th at 11 AM for an online session with the authors of our monthly Irish Sport on Social media report.

A chance to chat with the authors of the report and look at ways in which sporting bodies and sponsors, as part of the Sport for Business community can maximise their impact across Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
