Ireland’s top tennis players will get the chance to compete against professional tour players on home soil this Summer when the Irish Open returns to Carrickmines.
It will be the Open’s first staging since Covid, and after a five-year break, this professional tour event will run from Tuesday 6th August to Sunday 11th August.
Qualifying will be played on Sunday 4th and Monday 5th August.
The € 15,000 prize money for the Men’s and Women’s tournaments will attract both Irish and international players working their way up the world rankings.
Top Irish players will hope to emulate Peter Bothwell and Georgia Drummy’s successes when Bothwell won the Men’s Singles in 2018, and Drummy claimed the Women’s title in 2019.
“We are delighted to be bringing international professional tennis back to Ireland this Summer.,” said Tennios Ireland CEO Kevin Quinn.
“The crowds who turned out to watch our Davis Cup team play in Limerick earlier this year showed that Irish fans really enjoy live tennis and we are very grateful to Carrickmines Lawn Tennis Club for teaming up with us to deliver this exciting event.”
Sport for Business, in partnership with Allianz and Sport Ireland, will hold the inaugural Sport for Business Children and Sport Conference on Thursday, September 19th. This is one of many events currently in planning for the remainder of 2024.
