What else would you be doing as a sports star on the 4th of July only trying out your American Football skills as part of the Budweiser Combine, a test of speed, accuracy, kicking and physical prowess?

That’s what Andrew Conway of Munster and Ireland in rugby, Dean Rock of Ballymun Kickham,s and Dublin in Gaelic Football and Sarah Rowe of Bohemians in football, Mayo in Ladies Football, and Collingwood in the AFLW were doing yesterday anyway.

Coached by former College American Football Player and kicking coach Tadhg Leader, the stars put their speed and kicking skills to the test against NCAA standards.

Notre Dame and Navy are coming to the Aviva Stadium on August 26th in front of a sellout crowd and Budweiser is giving fans the chance to witness the spectacle of top-level college football by winning a pair of tickets to the game that money can’t buy.

The combine is a big thing in American sport and featured some years ago when Mayo footballer Aidan O’Brien put himself to the test as part of AIB’s The Toughest series of sports documentaries.

So, does a future in Gridiron await? though Sarah Rowe will find it tricky as she bids farewell to Bohs this week and heads back down under for the resumption of the AFLW season.

Dean Rock also has unfinished business in the All-Ireland Football Championship while Andrew Conway will be getting back ready for pre-season ahead of a big autumn for Munster and Ireland.

“Bringing the College Football show to Dublin is something Budweiser is delighted to be associated with, and we are offering two fans the chance to win two tickets, that money can’t buy, for the game on our social channels.”

“For everyone else, Dublin’s city centre will be electric on game day with dedicated Budweiser street entertainment and tail-gates.”
