TG4 has stepped up further as a broadcaster that is willing to commit to Women’s sport with the announcement that it will broadcast Ireland’s two-test series in Japan starting with next Saturday’s first test match.
It has been a 22 year broadcaster and sponsor of the All Ireland Ladies Football Championship and has also committed this year to showing an increased ten games from the SSE Airtricity Women’s National League in football.
With rugby already playing a significant part in its schedule and with last year’s Vodafone Inter Provincial series and Energia All Ireland League Final shown live, this is a natural evolution, but no less impressive for that.
The 29-player squad travelled to Tokyo last week and have been settling in to Tokyo.
The first Test will take place at the Ecopa Stadium in Shizuoka at 7 pm local time and 11 am Irish time next Saturday , while the second test will take place a weeek later at the iconic Chichibunomiya Rugby Stadium.
“After last season’s successful coverage of the Energia Women’s All Ireland League Final and the Vodafone Women’s Interprovinicial Championship, TG4 is very pleased to provide viewers with live coverage of these international matches.”
