Today we have four such roles for those who might be looking to shift things around in the New Year.

CEO – Shamrock Rovers FC

The SSE Airtricity League Champions are looking to appoint a new CEO who will be responsible for the management and operations of the club.

It is a wide-ranging job with a summary of the responsibilities reading:

  • Maintain and implement the strategic plan agreed by the board of directors
  • Implement an effective business model with resources agreed by and support of the board of directors
  • Grow the supporter base of Shamrock Rovers
  • Work with Academy Director on the development of the Shamrock Rovers Academy and the Shamrock Rovers Community Plan
  • Expand current and develop new revenue streams
  • Financial management of the Football Club
  • Establish and maintain corporate / government relationships
    Board reporting
  • Maintain sound relationships and representations at FAI
  • Oversee Football Club operations
  • Oversee Marketing and Public Relations (inc media liaisons, sponsorships and memberships)
  • Maintain effective HR policies and procedures
  • Establish and maintain sound relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including most particularly the South Dublin County Council, the Roadstone Social Club, CRH and our main sponsors

Throughout the detailed job specification provided by recruitment firm Amrop, the word relationships appear more than any other and that will be key to the success of the person who emerges from the search.

Relationships with the Board and independent Chair Ciaran medlar of BDO will be key and there will be an overall responsibility to tie together the marketing, governance, financial and operational teams working in Tallaght.

Marketing the matchday experience in a post-Covid environment will be a key element as will representing the club as the next stage of domestic football in Ireland begins to emerge.

Operations Manager – Cricket Ireland

The Cricket Operations Manager will oversee the day-to-day management and operations of domestic, first-class and international cricket.   Experience of operations management is required.

The role will deliver on key objectives contained within the Cricket Ireland Strategic Plan, particularly in relation to the smooth running of the organisation’s cricket and technical operations.

Working with the Head of Operations-International Cricket, High-Performance Director, Team Operations Managers, Event Manager, other Cricket Ireland personnel, the volunteer network and key stakeholders, the post-holder will manage many of the key operational and technical aspects of Cricket Operations including operations for match officials, matches/tournaments, grounds and facilities.

The post-holder will ensure that CI remains compliant with the full range of regulations imposed at both statutory and ICC level, relating to activity both on and off the pitch.

In order to apply for the role, it is deemed essential that you:

  • Be educated to degree or diploma level specialising in Sports Management, or Recreation and Leisure Management; and/or demonstrate five years’ relevant experience in Cricket or Sports Administration.
  • Have an understanding of the requirements needed to operate international and first-class cricket.
  • Have a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of cricket facilities.
  • Have a thorough knowledge and interest in cricket, particularly the laws, rules, regulations and policies associated with international and domestic cricket.
  • Be highly organised and be able to work under pressure, with the ability to multi-task when planning a range of projects and initiatives that must be delivered.
  • Team building, negotiation skills and experience in working with volunteers is essential. Highly developed written, verbal, communication and relationship building skills.
  • Excellent time management skills are required with the ability to work on one’s own and be self-motivated.
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of modern Microsoft IT and software packages including Office, Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
  • Strong administrative skills; experience with database management
  • Must be prepared to work unsocial hours, including out of office hours and on weekends/bank holidays.

 

Coach Development Manager – Cricket Ireland

The Cricket Ireland Coach Development Manager will be responsible for setting and delivering a strategy to ensure that there is a sufficient number of qualified and active coaches within Ireland, appropriate to the needs of the game being played at different levels, and ensure the quality, consistency and recognition of coaches nationally. 

The ideal candidate will have at least three to five years knowledge of community sport, sport programme and development and coach education.  Will have proven experience of establishing and delivering a coaching strategy regionally/nationally either in cricket or another sport and proven experience with developing learning curriculum and online learning platform

The closing date for applications for both of the roles at Cricket Ireland is noon on Friday, December 18th 2020, with a provisional date for Interviews being the week commencing 4 January 2021 via Zoom.
