One of our Sport for Business members and friends Joanne Murphy of TriTalkingSport has kicked off a virtual group activity challenge that we will be taking part in and which might be good for all of us.
It’s really more about motivation to get out and get active in some way from a walk to a cycle, a circuit session on your balcony or a stair climb challenge to keep yourself moving.
You can share it on social media but only if you want. There are no prizes, there are no goals other than those you set yourself to set a timer for 30 minutes at some point during the day.
Of course, you need to keep social distance form those outside your own family unit with whom you might be doing it but that’s not am impossible task and this really is a time, over time, when we will need a bit of motivation as much as ever to get out and active.
Murphy is a host of Ironman events around Europe and also works on the microphone for a host of Irish sporting events including with Gymnastics Ireland and others.
“With our regular routines thrown out of whack and lots of uncertainty ahead, many of us are apprehensive, worried and uneasy about the future, taking things simply day by day, which is creating havoc with our ability to maintain motivation,” she said.
“Coupled with the fact that all of our club training sessions have been cancelled and numerous events we had targeted as goal races have been postponed or cancelled, it’s no wonder our motivation to train has slipped from our grasp.”
“There is so much we can do at home to ensure we are remaining fit and healthy, join the challenge and we will try to keep you motivated with tips and challenges over the next few weeks to help not only keep you active but also entertained and hopefully put a smile on your face and reduce your anxiety and unease during this time of uncertainty.”
Be imaginative and we will share some of the best ideas here with Joanne over the coming weeks.
