The KPMG Women’s Irish Open has announced that Carton House, Fairmont in Kildare is to be the host venue for the tournament in August 2024.

The resort boasts two championship courses – the Montgomerie and the O’Meara. The KPMG Women’s Irish Open will be played on the iconic O’Meara course.

“I wish to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Carton House for being selected as the next hosts of the KPMG Women’s Irish Open,” said Mark Nolan, Managing Director of Dromoland Castle where the 2023 tournament successfully concluded yesterday.

“This announcement marks a momentous occasion for women’s golf in Ireland, and we couldn’t be prouder to pass the torch to Carton House after two successful years of hosting the Women’s Irish Open at Dromoland Castle and reintroducing the event to the Ladies European Tour calendar after a 10-year absence.”

“I know that Carton House will provide an outstanding platform for the world’s best golfers to compete and inspire a new generation of athletes.”

“We wish Carton House, Forefront Sports and all those involved in organising the KPMG Women’s Irish Open every success as they embark on this next chapter.”

“May this tournament enjoy a long and prosperous future, further solidifying its place in the Irish sporting calendar.”

“I know I speak for everyone here at Carton House, a Fairmont Managed Hotel, when I say we are delighted to host the 2024 KPMG Women’s Irish Open,” added Martin Mangan, General Manager of Carton House Fairmont.

“With two magnificent Championship Golf Courses here at Carton House, golf is at the heart of the estate and a huge attraction for guests from here and overseas.”

“It is a great privilege to host the 2024 KPMG Women’s Irish Open and our Director of Golf, Liam McCool, along with the fantastic greenkeepers will have the O’Meara course looking it’s very best and ready for a fantastic weekend of golf, welcoming the best golfers from Ireland and around the world.”

“Since its reincarnation in 2022, the KPMG Women’s Irish Open has quickly become one of the most highly anticipated events in the Ladies European Tour and has been described by Leona Maguire as ‘feeling like a Major tournament.’” said Cian Branagan, Tournament Director of the KPMG Women’s Irish Open and CEO of Forefront Sports.

“Carton House, Fairmont is an incredible venue and I’m really excited for the 2024 KPMG Women’s Irish Open to take place there.”

“The O’Meara course is the perfect challenge for the Ladies European Tour stars and the team has already been fantastic to work with. We look forward to a successful 2024 Championship as we move to the Leinster region with our title partners, KPMG.

The 2023 KPMG Women’s Irish Open was won by Smilla Soenderby of Denmark after an Eagle in a dramatic three way play-off down the 18th hole.

That echoed the drama of 2022 when Klara Davidson Spilkova of the Czech Republic won in similar fashion.

This year’s overall attendance at the tournament hit 30,000, a 20 per cent increase on that of 2022 which itself was 25 per cent ahead of what had been the target.
