Leinster Rugby has named Plan International Ireland and its work tackling gender inequality as its first charity partner of the new season.
Inspired by the World Economic Forum’s findings that it will take 131 years to achieve gender equality, Plan’s new campaign to Beat the Clock – Until We Are All Equal kicks off on Monday, September 11.
The campaign aims to raise awareness on how long it will take to achieve gender equality and encourage everyone to get on board and with Plan, to Beat the Clock.
Twenty years old this year, Plan International Ireland’s work focuses on children’s rights, especially for girls, humanitarian response and the provision of inclusive, quality education in developing countries.
Leinster Rugby will work with the charity for the month of September as part of its Charity Affiliate Programme, helping to amplify its messaging.
“Plan International approached us a few months ago with a view to working with Leinster Rugby to help them raise awareness around this campaign they are launching next week,” said Leinster rugby Senior Communications Manager Marcus O’Buachalla who manages the programme.
“We are delighted that our women’s and men’s squads have supported the launch this morning and we look forward to helping Plan International drive awareness of the great work that they are doing in over 75 countries abroad.”
“We are truly delighted that Leinster Rugby has come on board with us to help Beat the Clock,” added Paul O’Brien, CEO of PLan International Ireland.
“131 years is too long to wait for gender equality. We invite all rugby supporters far and wide to visit plan.ie or go to our Facebook and Instagram pages. By simply liking and sharing our posts, you are helping us to Beat the Clock.
“It really is that easy.”
Leinster Rugby will support the campaign online and through its digital assets and is inviting all its supporters to like, tag and share Plan’s Beat the Clock messages and stories.
