Women and Sport

Updated with programme of speakers Follow live through the day @SportforBusines

We will be live throughout today from a major Government sponsored conference looking at ‘levelling the playing field’ for Women and Girls in sport in Ireland.

The one day event will explore leadership, culture, participation and the importance of role models to inspire girls to stay within sport as competitors, participants, coaches and more.

The event will bring together key players who have sought to create what we referred to as parity of esteem for all who play sport.  Fiona Coghlan will deliver a keynote address and she will be joined on the stage at Dublin Castle by leaders including Sarah Keane of Swim Ireland, Sinead Heraty of the Irish Ladies Golf Union, Aoife lane of the Women’s Gaelic Players Association, Una May of Sport Ireland, Maev NicLochlainn from the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport, All Ireland winning footballer Valerie Mulcahy, Sharon Hutchinson of Sportswomen.ie and Niamh O’Donoghue of the FAI.

All eight of those featured in the 2015 Sport for Business list of the Most Influential Women in Irish Sport so well done to the co-sponsor departments of Justice and Equality and Transport Tourism and Sport for bringing together a strong group to raise the issue of equality in sport to a high level.
