Greyhound Racing Ireland announced on Monday that willwego.com have become the new title sponsors of the Irish St Leger at Limerick Greyhound Stadium.

The new partnership will see the online sports, music, entertainment and community events company take on the race for four years through to 2026.

“We are delighted to sponsor the willwego.com Irish St Leger at Limerick Greyhound Stadium,” said Ray Quinn, Head of Venues and Entertainment at the company.

“Each one of us at willwego.com, which is the one stop shop for entertainment and events in the midlands, are really thrilled to get the opportunity to partner with a fellow entertainment venue in Greyhound Racing Ireland.”

“We feel it’s a great fit for our business and we look forward to great nights out at the track in the coming weeks culminating with the final on Saturday November 25th.”

“We are delighted to welcome our new sponsors willwego.com,” added Leon Blanche, Chief Commercial Officer at Greyhound Racing Ireland.

“It’s a hugely positive announcement for the industry guaranteeing a very substantial prize fund for this prestigious competition up to and including 2026.”

“The willwego.com Irish St leger is an eagerly anticipated competition with huge interest. We very much look forward to the event kicking off at Limerick Greyhound Stadium this Saturday night.”

The competition is an original classic race and was inaugurated in 1932 at Celtic Park in Belfast but found a permanent home at the old Markets Field Greyhound Stadium in Limerick after it was hosted at various locations.

This Classic event has always been the highlight of the year at the Munster based track with the roll of honour including some big names like Clonbrien Hero, Ballymac Anton, Epic Hero and most recent victor Bobsleigh Dream. It’s run over 550 yards with this being the last Classic event of the year on the greyhound calendar before the Winter Festival.

The winner of the willwego.com Irish St. Leger will receive €30,000 with the event kicking off this Saturday 28th October.
