We have more than 30 speakers from every corner of the world.
We had dinner last night with the Head of the Aspetar Sports Academy in Qatar, the Head of Sport for Twitter and the Head of Innovation with Team USA who won 121 medals at the Rio Olympics.
Throughout the day we will hear from John Kavanagh about managing Conor McGregor, Sir Clive Woodward on Leading the British and Irish Lions, Shane Lowry on making it to the top of Golf’s pyramid and Jamie Fuller who has flown in from Australia to lead a discussion on ethics in sport.
Sport is the most important thing in many people’s downtime and it is a business that is worth a conservative €150 billion
We are a bunch of Irish guys and girls who asked the world to come to our city and talk about the future of sport. The world said yes and today will be a great day of learning, entertainment and excitement.
Lance Armstrong had also said yes, but with 16 hours until the start line had his people get in touch to say he wasn’t going to be part of the line up.
Sometimes that happens. Teams still take to the field. Life goes on and we are going to put on one hell of a show.
I am personally sorry to those who feel let down by Armstrong’s non appearance. I am personally grateful to those many more who expressed their support last night at a trying time.
Everything needs to be kept in perspective. Anyone who loves Irish sport will understand that, especially today of all days.
