We are reporting live this evening from Government Buildings at the Department of Culture, Communications and Sport budget briefing.

Minister Patrick O’Donovan is running through the monies set aside for the arts, culture and communications, including increased funding of €5 million for TG4.

The Sports funding is coming up next with Minister of State Charlie McConalogue.

New round of Community Sports Fund worth €58.7 million

Large Scale Infrastructure Fund will also be increased with draw downs rising in 2026.

€22 Million of funding for Major Sports Events including Ryder Cup and Euro 2028.

€3 million ringfenced for FAI to support Academies.

Allocation for 2026 is €290 million, an increase of 26% or €60 million on last year.

5.5% inrease for High Performance Sport.

€10.7 million additional funding for Sport Ireland.

€2 million additional for Core Funding, representing a 6% increase as opposed to an sak of 10%.

Over €900,000 additional funding for the GAA and just under €800,000 for IRFU

€500,000 set aside for continued development of Women’s Rugby.

€750,000 set aside towards development of hurling and camogie pathways.

Investment of €500k in a grassroots golf participation programme as part of the legacy programme of major golf events like the Ryder Cup 2027.

National Velodrome and Badminton Centre to commence construction.
