Locker, the Galway-based sports startup has launched a new Club Hero campaign, with a prize of €5,000 up for grabs for one sports club from any sport in Ireland.
The competition is open to all sports clubs in Ireland and entering couldn’t be easier. All sports fans have to do is download the Locker app for free and nominate their club of choice on the Club Hero registration page. The more entries for a club the greater their chances of being the lucky club that is drawn out in September.
Locker, which is available at getlocker.com aggregates over 1,000 sources of headline sports news from across Ireland and around the world and allows users to build their own feed mirroring their interests at different times of the sporting season.
Sport for Business features as part of the Sports Business vertical and there is good coverage of all sports with fellow Sport for Business members’ Balls.ie, Pundit Arena, OTB Sports and Sky Sports also available to have in your personal mix.
“Locker believes that the club is at the heart of sport and that’s why we are excited to launch this initiative to put much-needed funds into one lucky club,” said Locker co-founder Ross O’Dwyer.
“Just as Locker is open to all sports, we are delighted to say this opportunity is open to all clubs, so if your club is a rowing club or golf club or tennis club it has every chance to win as much as a GAA, rugby or soccer club. It is an initiative we hope to build on over the coming years.”
The marketing campaign includes social activation, display, event activation at over 20 sports events nationwide and email campaigns. The campaign started this week and continues until September.
Locker users can now access over 1,000 sources of high-quality sports news, with the app indexing and recommending over 5,000 new articles per day to bring a sports fan an experience.
There are trending and score elements to it and there are plans also to add video content to the app in the second half of 2022.
The start-up was co-founded in 2020 by Ross O’Dwyer – the former CEO and Co-Founder of Irish sports publisher Pundit Arena, along with Brian Quinn, the former Commercial and Marketing Director of Setanta Sports and Eir Sport along with CCO Matt Steerman and Head of Product, Andrew Pierse.
In 2020 Locker was the first Irish sports tech company to be accepted into the prestigious Techstars Sports Accelerator Programme in Indianapolis and was a winner of the Google Adopt-a-Start-up programme in 2021.
