Amazon has announced donations of €10,000 each to two local GAA clubs in West Dublin, supporting facility upgrades and community programmes.
St. Finian’s GAA Club in Newcastle will use the funding to develop a new all-weather pitch, with construction scheduled to begin in March 2026. The pitch will cater for the club’s growing membership and will also be available for use by a local cricket team and school.
Commercials Hurling and Camogie Club in Rathcoole will direct its €10,000 donation towards upgrading floodlights and landscaping the club grounds. The works are expected to be completed before the end of 2025 and are aimed at improving the experience for players and members.
“Ireland has a rich sporting history, with local sports clubs playing an essential role in our communities, so we are delighted to support these two fantastic clubs,” said Alison Dunn, Ireland Country Manager at Amazon.
“These donations will help improve the facilities and resources available to the clubs, benefiting not just their members but also the wider community, where many of our employees live and work.”
The donations are another proof point that all local sponsorships are rooted in the local community. Cuala is sponsored across its Dublin, Leinster, and All-Ireland winning teams by US Multinational Amgen, whose principal Irish facility is only a kick of a ball away from one of the club’s pitches, located between Dun Laoghaire and Deans Grange.
The reasons for the partnership differ from those behind their involvement with the Amgen Irish Open and the KPMG Women’s Irish Open, but the winner in each case is sport, and the company is recognised for being a good neighbour.
