Leona Maguire will partner with Anna Nordquist against the USA big guns of Nelly Korda and Alison Corpuz in tomorrow morning’s opening foursomes.
Europe Captain Suzann Pettersen said of Maguire that “you just want to get her off that first tee and keep her on the course as much as you can.”
That’s a ringing endorsement for the Irish superstar and KPMG ambassador who will hope for as good a weekend as she had in her rookie game last time out.
Charley Hull and Emily Pedersen will play Ally Ewing and Cheyenne Knight, while Celine Boutier and Georgia Hall will take on Danielle Kang and Andrea Lee.
The first Tee shots at a potentially drivable par 4 first hole with a towering grandstand built into the hillside will be pure drama with the honour falling to Linn Grant and Maja Stark of Europe, lexi Thompson and Megan Khang of the US.
Those shots will be hit at 08:10 on Friday morning and it will be worth tuning in.
