Mazda has confirmed that it will be continuing its long term support of Connacht Rugby by becoming Official Car Sponsor to the province.
It is an important long term deal which follows on from the brand being the main shirt sponsors prior to being replaced by Lifestyle Sports over the summer.
The new deal represents a significant investment in Connacht Rugby including providing a fleet of over 55 Mazda cars to the Connacht Rugby team.
It is also the first of Connacht’s commercial partners to secure a deal with superstar summer arrival Mils Muliaini who is to be an official Mazda ambassador for the 2014/2015 season.
“I am delighted to have been appointed as Brand Ambassador for Mazda Ireland,” said Muliaini. “I have lived and played in both New Zealand and Japan where the Mazda brand is hugely popular so this is a great honour and I believe they have been an excellent partner of Connacht Rugby for some time now.”
Rugby is a popular sporting choice for car brands. Volkswagen are official partners of the IRFU and Leinster Rugby. SEAT hold the same position with Munster Rugby and Land Rover are official partners of the Rugby World Cup 2015.
It is expected that another brand, likely to be Renault, will shortly be announced as one of a limited number of title sponsors for the European Rugby Champions’ Cup.
