Paul Golfing Head and ShouldersPaul McGinley is to be the keynote speaker at the 2nd Annual Business of Sports Science Conference in Dublin on January 8th.

McGinley will join Sport for Business CEO Rob Hartnett in exploring how science and technology are impacting in a positive way on the sport of golf, and on how his team used technology to help secure Europe’s Ryder Cup win at Gleneagles in September.

Other speakers so far confirmed include Donal Ryan, CEO of Equinome, the UCD spin out company that is revolutionising the worlds of bloodtock breeding and horse racing; and Avenir Sports who will be joined by leading figures in inter county gaelic games to demonstrate advances in how the power of video analysis is making a major difference to the All Ireland Championships and far beyond.

Grant Best, one of the leading figures in BT Sport will describe how technology is harnessed to bring the best possible viewer experience to the world of sport at the highest level.

This year’s event will also feature the first Spark of Innovation Award given to one of four companies who are based on the island of Ireland and are making a major contribution to the world of sports science and technology.

“It is great to have Paul share his own insights on technology and how it makes a difference at the very pinnacle of sport,” said Sport for Business founder Rob Hartnett.

“We are looking this year at a wide spread of sports with a central theme of how young and vibrant companies in the science and tech sector are changing the way sport is played and turning Ireland into a global hub for innovation in sport.”
