Mercedes-Benz has extended its support of Olympic silver medal-winning sailor Annalise Murphy as she continues her preparations to represent Ireland in the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Renewing her ‘Tier One’ partnership arrangement, the 29-year old Rathfarnham star has been provided with a new X-Class pickup to transport her team, herself and her equipment to events, here in Ireland and overseas.

Adapted to be able to tow her 49er FX boat the Black vehicle is kitted out to a high specification and will be a regular sight around Ireland.

It is another boost for Team Ireland in sailing following on from the opening of the new Performance HQ in Dun Laoghaire, one wing of which will also be transportable around the world.

‘Having the Mercedes-Benz X-Class is a major boost to my training regime and my ambitions for Tokyo,” said Murphy.

“We are proud to continue our support for Annalise, one of Ireland’s most admired Olympians.,” added Fergus Conheady, Sales Manager in Ireland for Mercedes-Benz.

Mercedes -Benz last year added 19-year-old Aoife Hopkins to their ‘team providing here with a similar vehicle as she continues her bid to qualify for Tokyo 2020.
