The first Leinster Vs Munster clash of the season is an 82,300 sell out at Croke Park.

This is the first time that Leinster have been the lead organiser for the stadium with both of the previous matches played there done so under the authority of European Professional Club Rugby.

It makes a significant difference as this means that the full benefit of the profits made, likely to be over €1.5 million, will be retained within Irish Rugby, mainly with Leinster but doubtless also of some benefit to Munster and the rest of the rugby community.

A sell out game at the Aviva would be worth a little over €1 million making the added importance of this one obvious in the period that Leinster are out of the RDS.

It is also a major win for the GAA who, apart from the rental fee for the stadium, also retain control of the food and beverage elements of staging the game, and significant elements of the hospitality programme.

And for the BKT United Rugby Championship who will be setting a record attendance beating the 68,262 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff for a Welsh club showdown as far back agoi as 2016.

It promises to be a great evening of sport, one that will be memorable for those that have their tickets and a spectacle for those watching on RTÉ2 here in Ireland or on Premier Sports across the UK.
