Waterford-based production company Nemeton has strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of Gabrielle Cummins to the newly created role of Head of Media Development.
Founded in 1993 by Irial Mac Murchú, Nemeton is one of Ireland’s leading independent production companies, employing 75 full and part-time staff along with a wide network of regular freelancers.
The company produces over 600 hours of television and online content each year for clients including TG4, RTÉ, BBC, and Sky Sports, with GAA Beo among its flagship programmes.
As the company’s first Head of Media Development, Cummins will focus on expanding Nemeton’s digital output, enhancing content across all digital channels, and supporting the company’s ambitions to develop and commercialise content internationally.
Cummins is a well-known figure in Irish media, having helped establish Beat 102-103, Ireland’s first youth regional music station, where she served as CEO and Programme Director for 17 years. She began her career with WLR FM and has also worked as a local TV producer.
Mac Murchú said Cummins’ appointment comes at a pivotal moment.
“We’ve had ambitions for a long time to develop and commercialise our digital content internationally.”
“This has never been as important as it is now in an era of great change and opportunity, not least in this new age of AI.”
“Gabrielle’s experience will enable us to do just that and we are delighted to have her on board.”
Cummins said she was impressed by Nemeton’s culture and output from her first visit to its An Rinn HQ:
“There’s a palpable pride in consistently producing great content and a passion to challenge themselves further in diversification and innovation.”
“At the heart of Nemeton’s output is great storytelling; I’m excited to join Irial and the team and confident we will achieve a lot and create new opportunities in the industry.”
A native of Tipperary and a long-time Waterford resident, Cummins will take up her new position in October 2025.
