BT Sport AwardsBrian O’Driscoll was described at last night’s BT Sports Industry Awards in London as “like Madonna, just when you think he’s done, he reshapes himself and pops back up.” Those were the words of former rival Will Greenwood as O’Driscoll was given the award for outstanding contribution to International sport.

He also featured in HSBC’s award for integrated marketing campaign of the year for HSBC around their support of the British and Irish Lions tour to South Africa in the summer.

Paddy Power were runners up in that category for their ‘Gay Football’ campaign.

Teamer were  another brand from within the Sport for Business membership up for an award but had to give second best to the power of Sky Sports News in the Best Digital platform category.  Great achievement though to be nominated again.

Adidas were big winners on the night picking up a variety of awards including best use of PR around ‘Blue is the Colour’, their launch of the Chelsea FC kit over last summer.

Wimbledon picked up brand of the year while our campaign for parity of esteem in Women’s sport was given yet more international validation when Netball picked up the award for Governing Body of the year.

The NFL won the gong for Live Experience even and the Prudential Ride for best mass participation exercise.

The event, in front of 1,500 at the former Battersea Power Station was capped off by a lifetime contribution award for Alan Pascoe.
