Mount Juliet Estate in Kilkenny, which has hosted five Irish Opens and two World Golf Championships, is now preparing to welcome the Legends Tour for the first time since 1999.
The official Media and Partners Day took place this week in warm sunshine and the event promises to be a great addition to the diary.
“We’re thrilled to continue as the title sponsor of the OFX Irish Legends for a second year,” said Maeve McMahon, President EMEA of OFX.
“The iconic Mount Juliet Estate is the perfect backdrop for another unforgettable tournament. We look forward to another fantastic event, celebrating the game and connecting with players, fans, and the wider golfing community in the spectacular setting of Mount Juliet Estate.”
McMahon will feature in our Sport for Business Thursday Interview next week.
Mount Juliet’s championship course, designed by Jack Nicklaus, stretches 7,200 yards and features five lakes and 80 bunkers, promising a true test for competitors.
Adilson Da Silva, the 2024 champion from Seapoint Golf Links, will return to defend his title in what promises to be another thrilling tournament.
The Celebrity Pro-am takes place on Wednesday, the 15th, and is scheduled to feature Robbie Fowler, Niall Quinn, Liam Brady, Keith Duffy, and Daniel O’Donnell, along with many more sports and entertainment legends.
Kilkenny legend Henry Shefflin was there on Monday, saying how much he enjoyed getting out onto the golf course.
“We are delighted to be heading to such an iconic venue as Mount Juliet in 2025 for the OFX Irish Legends,” said Legends Tour CEO Phil Harrison.
“It is one of the best parkland golf courses in the world and will present a superb challenge for all the players.”
“Hosting the Legends Tour is a testament to the excellence of the golf experience at Mount Juliet. We look forward to welcoming some of the world’s finest golfers to our estate.”
Formerly the European Seniors Tour, the Legends Tour features a global playing schedule and some of the game’s most celebrated players. The roster includes Ryder Cup captains and players, Major champions, and Tour winners.
Uniquely, several playing opportunities exist for amateurs wishing to play alongside their heroes at Mount Juliet – the Legends Tour is now accepting bookings for the full Legends Experience, the Luxe Scot Celebrity Pro-Am and the Championship Pro-Am.
