Irish brand Benetti Menswear has signed up Ronan O’Gara as a brand ambassador.
The former Munster, Ireland and British & Irish Lions player, currently Head Coach at La Rochelle and a regular analyst on the Virgin Media rugby slate is pictured above wearing an outfit from the brand’s latest range.
That same mannequin has previously been seen alongside Shane Duffy when the brand was the official tailor to the Republic of Ireland team and the FAI.
The shots from the fashion shoot, which must have been a first for O’Gara, are certainly being well used with no fewer than nine images on the home page of the Benetti website.
Speaking to media this morning as part of the launch he was full of praise for the Irish rugby performance against Japan and said that “I think we have all had a stomach full of the box kick.”
He also weighed in on his successor in the Irish shirt Johnny Sexton still being the man for the job at the next Rugby World Cup in 2023.
“If you want to be serious about challenging for the World Cup you need strength in depth down to the third-choice, minimum, in every position.”
“So Johnny is the short-term, whether that can be pushed out to the medium-term or the long-term, I think we’ll probably have a better idea at the end of the summer but what we do know from other nations is the fact that it’s very difficult to be excelling at the age he will be then.”
“That’s not a slight on Johnny, that’s just the reality of the human body and what happens to it over time.”
O’Gara will appeal to the target market for Men approaching that point in their life where things are perhaps beginning to spread a little from where they were, and with clothes becoming a more careful choice now that things are starting to open up for work events as well as matches and trips to the cinema.
Benetti is an Irish brand, stocked in independent retailers around the country supplied from its base in Ballymahon, County Longford.
