We are one week away from the opening ceremony for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, and a glance at our Rolling TV Guide reveals that competition will actually get underway next Wednesday.
From Monday, we will kick off a daily diary of the events and activities surrounding the games. As we do throughout the year, we will spotlight the sports and the athletes for whom this is a rare opportunity to get the whole country interested in their activities.
There will be stories of great athletic performance, but there will also be stories of human interest that will ‘squeeze your heart’ as Sport for Business member Sinead Cassidy said during the week.
They were on full display last night as the PTSB-sponsored RTÉ series on Olympians and Paralympians drew to a close, and a two-part series sponsored by Flogas and produced in partnership with Titan Experience aired on Virgin Media.
Kellie Harrington and Hiko Tonosa were the featured athletes on RTÉ, while before that, on Virgin, Ciara Mageean and Jordan Conroy were under the spotlight.
Each of their stories, at times, moved them and us to tears. Ciara Mageean remembers coach Jerry Kiernan in an emotional segment and for Kellie it was less about the fluffy pigeons of Rio and more about the challenges of fame and the willingness of some to ‘lift you up and then try to tear you down.’
“This evening was a new landmark for the Titan Experience content team with the first episode of “The Energy Behind” airing on Virgin Media One ,” said Titan Experience Founder Eoin Conroy.
“We created the show to mark the 100-year centenary celebration of Team Ireland on the eve of what promises to be our most successful Olympic Games ever in Paris.”
“We are deeply grateful to our wonderful client, Flogas Ireland, for believing in and collaborating with us on the direction we explored together over weeks of extensive storyboarding and planning.”
“Their ambition and passion to deliver for Team Ireland as a leading partner of the Olympic Federation of Ireland was a joy to work on.”
“A big thank you to Rita Kirwan, John Conroy, Ken O’Byrne, Louise Flood and Kaitlyn Kirwan under the wider vision of Flogas Ireland Managing Director John Rooney.”
“To our ground-breaking team under the wider leadership of Lorna Maguire, I could not be prouder of James Yendole, Sarah Murphy and Michael King.”
Sport for Business will host its annual Sponsorship Showcase event in Dublin on Thursday morning, October 10th. This is one of many events planned for the remainder of 2024.
