The feel good factor for Olympic Sports has continued since the games and there was a packed stadium in England yesterday for the Birmingham International Grand Prix, sponsored by Aviva.
It is not only in the higher profile sports or indeed in Britain that the benefit of the greater exposure is being felt.
German Volleyball has signed a major deal for the online broadcasting of the sport’s domestic league through subscription service Spobox.tv.
The channel will show up to 40 live matches a season from the men’s and women’s games. It is also to create a mobile app and will enable the clubs involved to stream games via their own websites in a deal where revenues will be shared.
Spobox covers tennis, table tennis, triathlon, judo and a number of other sports as part of the subscription service and presents a model for how sports broadcasting rights can be of value outside of the traditional channels.
