The Pinergy All-Ireland Schools Cup finals begin on Tuesday and will see teams and fans from across the country flock to the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght, as the opening day of this year’s #PinergySchoolsCup finals gets an action-packed week of basketball underway with a bang.
Pinergy, proud sponsors of the All-Ireland Schools Cup and the Official Energy Partner for Basketball Ireland, will be #PoweringTheDifference for teams around the country, as one of the marquee events in the Irish basketball calendar gets underway from January 17th to 19th.
A host of cracking match-ups are in store, with the U19 A Boys final dishing up what is set to be an enthralling contest, as two Dublin sides, Malahide Community School and Templeogue College go head-to-head for top honours. Templeogue last won this title back in the 2017/2018 season and they’ll be hoping to bring the Cup back to South Dublin once more, but face tricky opponents in Malahide Community School, who scooped the U16 A Boys Cup back in 2019/2020 and will be hoping to bring that experience through to next week’s decider.
In the U19A Girls final meanwhile, St Aloysius CGSS (Cork) came through a gruelling semi-final clash with near neighbours, Regina Mundi, to book their spot in the decider against Virginia College Cavan. Virginia College were also put to the test in their semi-final showdown with Loreto SS Letterkenny, ensuring next week’s final is set to be a very tough one to call indeed.
The U16A finals are set to be just as interesting, with Calasancticus College Oranmore back in the Girls Final vying with Mercy Mounthawk of Tralee to claim top honours. In the U16A Boys final Coláiste Éanna also face Kerry opposition, as Scoil Phobail Sliabh Luachra hope they can do enough to bring silverware back to the kingdom.
There are also big clashes in store in the U19 B and C finals, and the U16 B and C finals, in what is teeing up to be a superb week of basketball action and all #PinergySchoolsCup finals will be streamed live on basketballireland.tv
“We are thrilled to be back at Pinergy All-Ireland Schools Cup finals week, following what has been a truly fantastic year of action so far,” said Head of Marketing at Pinergy, David Slattery.
“The National Basketball Arena is always packed with fans powering their players on from the stands, and we have no doubt that there will be some incredible skill on show in next week’s finals. We are proud to be #PoweringTheDifference for Irish schools basketball, and look forward to seeing some great games.”
“The Pinergy All-Ireland Schools Cup is a chance to watch the basketball stars of the future,” added Basketball Ireland Head of Commercial, Bruce Wood.
“There is huge excitement and anticipation, with 10 games taking place over three days at the National Basketball Arena. The atmosphere generated by the supporters is always electric and you can watch all of the games live on basketballireland.tv, with live scores and match trackers of each game available on the Swish All-Hoops app, which you can download from your app store.”
Sport for Business Perspective:
Basketball remains one of the most popular games at schools level across Ireland and this is an opportunity to showcase the talent that we have. Having a leading sponsor on board adds to the sense of occasion for schools tournaments and this will provide memories that will last a lifetime.
