powerchair-footballTrailblazers Powerchair Football Club in Antrim are the latest local sports team to benefit from the 2016 Topaz Cash for Clubs initiative.

Powerchair Football is the first competitive team sport designed and developed specifically for power wheelchair users. It sees two opposing teams of four compete in a game not dissimilar to soccer, which combines the skill of the wheelchair user with the speed and power of the chair as players attempt to score goals against the opposition.

Trailblazers Powerchair Football Club provides people with disabilities from across Northern Ireland the opportunity to participate in the sport, while also socialising and having fun.

“The commitment shown by Trailblazers has been outstanding and we congratulate all those connected with the club on their success as part of this year’s campaign, said Topaz Brand Manager MJ Tierney.

“We’re proud to see the prize go to a deserving winner and a worthy cause.”

 

Team Ireland are travelling to Florida in 2017 to participate as one of ten nations in the PowerChair Football World Cup.  They need support from corporate donors but also from individuals in order to raise money for the team and have set up a giving page on Pledge Sports.
