Dermot Rigley caused a frisson of excitement last night on social media when he announced that he was “Thrilled to officially step into the CEO role at Prime Arena Holdings.”

He added to a buzz that has been building around sporting circles in Dublin for some time when confirming that “Over the last 3 years we have been developing plans for Ireland’s first purpose-built winter sports and entertainment arena, a landmark venue in Dublin that will host Olympic-standard ice sports, global touring acts, and major conferences.”

“It’s a once-in-a-generation opportunity to create something iconic for Irish sport, culture, and community, and I’m honoured to help lead that journey,” he added.

He is joined on the board of the new venture by some impressive names.

Denis Desmond of MCD, Michael O’Rourke of Premier Sports, John Hume and Eoin Brophy, as well as Tom Kennedy and Helen Work, are listed as investors in the company.

More details on their plans for this exciting development are expected within weeks, and we will keep you very much on top of this breaking story.
