Kerry’s Mary Ellen Bolger, Clare’s Róisín Begley, Roscommon’s Darragh Heneghan and Dublin’s Brian Hayes have been named as the PwC GPA Players of the Month for May across Ladies Football, Camogie, Gaelic Football and Hurling.
The awards recognise performances across the Provincial Championships and the opening rounds of the 2026 All-Ireland Championship campaigns, with each of the four winners having made a major contribution for their county during the month.
Kerry goalkeeper Mary Ellen Bolger has been named the PwC GPA Women’s Player of the Month for Ladies Football after playing a decisive role in Kerry’s third consecutive TG4 Munster Senior Football Championship title.
Her late save in the final against Waterford proved crucial in helping Kerry retain provincial honours and continue their strong recent form at the top level of the game.
Clare forward Róisín Begley is the Camogie winner after an excellent start to the Championship. She scored four points against Dublin in Round 1 and followed that with 2-2 against Wexford in Round 2, underlining her importance to Clare’s early-season momentum.
In Gaelic Football, Roscommon’s Darragh Heneghan has been named PwC GAA/GPA Footballer of the Month after helping the county to a first Connacht Senior Football Championship title since 2019.
Heneghan finished with 2-2 in the final victory over Galway, having also found the net in Roscommon’s Championship opener against Tyrone.
Dublin midfielder Brian Hayes takes the Hurling award after a powerful month in blue, including a Player of the Match display in the Leinster semi-final win over Kilkenny. That result was Dublin’s first Championship win over the Cats since 2013 and sent them through to the provincial final.
PwC supports the monthly awards alongside its sponsorship of the PwC All-Stars and PwC Camogie All-Stars.
“May delivered a host of outstanding performances across all four codes, as captivating provincial campaigns reached their conclusion, and the All-Ireland Championship series gathered momentum,” said Enda McDonagh, Managing Partner, PwC Ireland.
“On behalf of everyone at PwC, congratulations to Mary Ellen Bolger, Róisín Begley, Darragh Heneghan, and Brian Hayes on being named the Players of the Month for May.”
GAA President Jarlath Burns added that the awards recognised players who had “put down a marker through their exceptional performances” during the early stages of the Championship summer.
“Their skills have contributed to the excitement of a Championship campaign that is building towards a dramatic and exciting finish,” he said.
GPA CEO Tom Parsons said the peer recognition element of the awards made the achievement especially meaningful.
“May was a month of many outstanding performances and there were so many players who were rightfully in the running to become the PwC Players of the Month,” he said.
“It is a testament to the excellence of the four winners that their fellow players have chosen them to be recognised.”
The awards bring together the four leading codes under the PwC banner, highlighting standout individual performances while also reflecting the breadth of the Championship season now underway across Gaelic Games.
