Our group is one of the first to form under Horse Racing Ireland’s new initiative to ‘Experience It’ by getting a real taste for what it is like to live the life of an owner.
After an initial trip to the stables of trainer Paul Deegan last week things step up a gear tonight with Mystery Gal declared to run in the 8.15 race at the home of the Boylesports Irish Grand National.
We have been kept up to date with how the horse has been training through messages and video clips shared via What’s App and the excitement has been mounting.
“It’s been a great feeling to be ‘on the inside’ and will be a thrill to be there tonight standing in the same parade ring as walked through on way to success by the likes of Michael O’Leary, Willie Mullins and JP McManus,” said Sport for Business Founder Rob Hartnett.
“The group has been brought together from across our membership and includes leaders from across the sporting and business world, all of whom have an interest in sport but are new to the thrill of being an owner.”

“Our days of lining out at Croke Park or on the pitch at the Aviva Stadium may be rare these days but the thrill of sport comes wearing many different colours and this has been a great experience so far.”
“Who knows tonight could kick it to another level altogether.”

In places like Australia it is more common to own a piece of a horse than not. The atmosphere at race meetings where so many of those present have a better understanding of the sport and an actual stake in what is unfolding before them is electric.
This is a step in that direction and the early signs have been really encouraging.
You can watch Mystery Gal’s run for glory tonight on At The Races (Channel 415 on Sky or 418 on Virgin Ireland). We can’t give any real indication of whetehr she will be a winner or not but she has been working well and we are hoping for a good run.
