A group of six young women playing under the name of The Street Leagues will represent Ireland in the World Finals of the Red Bull Neymar Jr Fives after winning the National Finals over the weekend in Dublin City Centre.
Over 1000 players from across the country took part in the tournament through regional qualifying heats over the past three months and the group stages took place at the Sport Ireland Natioonal Sports Campus on Sunday lunchtime before the finals were played out at Aungier Street just behind St Stephen’s Green.
Team Dynamite won the men’s tournament and The Street Leagues from Dublin came through in the first time there has been a women’s only tournament.
Both teams will now represent Ireland at the World Final in Brazil this summer alongside some of the best footballers from over 62 nations.
The Red Bull sponsored tournament was held in partnership in Ireland with Inter Sevens.
