Rowing Ireland has announced a new partnership with WHOOP, the human performance company.

In support of the pathway toward the Paris 2024 Olympics, WHOOP is to supply bands and subscriptions to the High-Performance athletes that have led the way for the sport on the European, World and Olympic stage over recent years.

The progress of Irish rowing was evidenced again at the weekend with the team taking home seven gold medals from the prestigious Henley Regatta in England.

Whoop tracks sleep, recovery and strain helping athletes to enhance their performance by gathering and examining the data that can often be looked over.

When athletes are using it they and their coaches can tailor load and specific training programmes to match their state of readiness.

The company is based in the US and has been adopted and promoted by athletes including Rory McIlroy, Patrick Mahomes and Kevin Durant.

It established its European base in Dublin last year.

“Today is an exciting day, as we build towards Paris 2024,” said Rowing Ireland CEO Michelle Carpenter.

“We are delighted to reveal WHOOP as an official supplier to Rowing Ireland. Their support of our athletes and coaches is hugely significant and we thank the team at WHOOP for their commitment to our journey. We look forward to working together to support our athletes’ journeys.”

“We’re thrilled to be working with Rowing Ireland in the lead-up to the 2024 Olympic Games,” added Ronan Jones, European Marketing Manager at WHOOP.

“WHOOP offers data insights, behavioural analysis and powerful coaching; which makes it an essential training tool for teams. We look forward to seeing what we can achieve together.”
