Sports Capital grants

The Irish Sailing Association has been quick to get some wind in the sails of those clubs around the country that will soon be preparing to lodge applications for the round of Sports Capital Grants announced in this week’s budget.

The last round delivered €26 million to 615 clubs in total and sailing won a very fair share of €251,719 spread across ten initiatives in Dublin, Cork, Waterford and Galway.Within 48 hours of the announcement that the Grants were being made available again, the Association’s weekly newsletter was landing in clubs giving details of how they might register and apply once the detail of the scheme is revealed by Minister of State Michael Ring (pictured).

Details of Regional Development Officers who are able to help with the scheme were also given and it certainly looks as though the water based community will be ready once the information is known.

Sailing will feature in our Sports Tourism Seminar at Croke Park on November 7th. Click for details.

As with any grant application, the preparation prior to submission will be critical. Last year almost half of the applications were invalid for one of many reasons but it is hoped that in this next round that valuable lessons will have been learnt.

If you are interested in attending a workshop on preparing an application on behalf of a club, or if you are in business with experience that might be useful to share and that will build your profile within the sporting community, contact us today and we will see what can be done to help make this huge boost for grassroots sporting infrastructure as valuable and as widespread as it ought to be.
